Here at LCYAC we believe that staying positive will bring good things to our community. Throughout the holiday season LCYAC will be sharing some of the holiday traditions that help us to Live Now! happy, healthy and drug free. You can read more about these traditions on our Facebook page, eNewsletter, newspaper ads, and hear them on the radio! The holiday's are a great time to share values with the youth in your family. We hope that you will share some of your traditions with us, too! “My parents live in St. Maries on a Christmas tree farm. On Thanksgiving, we go to my parents’ home where twenty-one family members show up to celebrate the wonderful holiday. We each go around the table and say what we are thankful for. After dinner, my four kids, my husband, and I pick out a Christmas tree. The following day, we decorate for Christmas. The kids each get a new ornament every year and like to put “their” ornaments on the tree and my husband always puts the angel on top. Throughout the Christmas season, we do many Christmas activities including attending a festive show at the Spokane Opera House. On Christmas Eve, we go back to my parents’ home and celebrate the holiday by opening presents, sledding, and eating a delicious prime rib dinner. On Christmas day, the kids wake up early at our house and open their Santa Claus presents. We always have an open invite for a turkey dinner at our house for family and friends.” -Sarah Swanson is the Adult Misdemeanor Probation Director. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 4-8 PM at the Prichard Art Gallery 414 S. Main St., Moscow LCYAC is proud to be a part of the 5th Annual Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse. We know that coming up with the right gift for everyone can be challenging. In the name of that "hard to buy for" friend or relative you can give a gift that provides Latah County teens with the tools and experiences that will lead to them living happier healthier lives. Our goal is to provide safe and healthy activities that encourage a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Your gift of even $5 at the AGMP goes a long way in providing drug free fun for our Latah County Youth. Click here to learn more about AGMP. Support Kids Give! LCYAC believes that creating positive healthy habits early in life is the key to success. Support Kids Give, teach your children the value of giving back to their community and encourage them to donate to LCYAC so we can continue to support them living healthy lives when they get to high school. Click here to learn more about Kids Give! We all know they're bad. Killing 6 million people every year, cigarettes are a leading cause of death in America. Over the last seventy years, doctors and scientists have been aware of the problem. They have made strides in creating awareness about nicotine dependency and the harm that cigarettes can cause, not only to users, but to those around them. Yet, people are still smoking. LCYAC provides education that encourages youth to live happy and healthy lives. This month, we are following the American Cancer Society closely and sharing their tools to a tobacco free lifestyle. Join us to make our community a better place. Looking for resources that will help you or your loved ones quit smoking?
